I have been slacking on finishing my haunt reviews but I have recently used some new makeup products so I will have a review for you.
I am very pro quality drug store makeup. If you can find a product that works well and is less expensive, why not use it? I recently bought the Revlon color burst matte balm in the color shameless. Let’s talk about the color first. It’s a beautiful, violet type purple. It’s more blue based so it makes your teeth look nicer. I love it so much. I have well over ten different purple lipsticks and this one is by far my favorite. It goes on so smoothly and is very pigmented. For a matte lipstick, it’s very moisturizing. It also has a pleasant minty smell. It’s not overpowering. It comes in a pencil and you twist the bottom to sharpen it, which is very convenient for me because I have yet to find a pencil sharpener that doesn’t eat up my pencils. At only $10 per pencil, I’d say it’s a very good quality product and definitely worth the money. A comparable higher end product would be the Nars velvet matte lip pencil. There was a period of time where I only wore the dragon girl Nars lip pencil. It’s a great product itself but it’s not nearly as moisturizing and at $25 per pencil, I’d honestly recommend the Revlon pencil over the Nars. They both have really good color pay off but the price and the moisturizing properties of the Revlon pencil make it a better choice in my eyes.
On the other hand, I do occasionally like to splurge on some higher end products. I bought the Calvin Klein 3 in 1 concealer. It’s only $20 so it’s not the most expensive makeup I’ve ever bought but it’s not cheap. It was a perfect color match for me so it’s worth it in my eyes. I haven’t had this product for very long but the few times I have used it, it’s worked really well. It has good coverage. It doesn’t crease. Over all I like this product. The only thing I don’t like about it is the applicator. It’s a brush pen type of applicator. I’m not really sure how else to describe it. You click the bottom to get the product in the brush. That bothers me. I’m mildly OCD about keeping my brushes clean. Other than that, I really like it.
My last recent impulse purchase was the Urban Decay super saturated high gloss lip color pencil in the color big bang. I wasn’t planning on buying anything on that trip. I just went with my friend to look for some pomade. I got bored and started swatching the colors and big bang caught my eye. It’s so sparkly!! I don’t usually like glossy lip colors but the sparkle factor made me overlook that. When I got home and put it on, it made me feel like a shiny, metallic, feminine robot, which sounds really weird now that I type that out but it makes me very happy when I wear it. It’s glossy so it keeps your lips moisturized for a bit but after some extended wear, it dries them out a bit. I attribute that to the sparkles. The color pay off is worth it. It’s $20 per pencil so it’s not terribly expensive. Totally worth it if you want to feel like a feminine, beautiful Jaws from James Bond.
Before I forget! I bought all of these at Ulta except my Nars pencil. The links will take you to the Ulta site but I’m fairly certain you can get these at other makeup stores as well. I’m going to finish typing out my haunt reviews now.
