I know I said I would blog more often but to be quite honest, my life just hasn’t been very blog worthy lately. All I’ve really been doing is working out and looking for jobs. It’s tough. I’ve sent out my portfolio and resumes to a lot of people. I’ve even resorted to retail. It’s been really getting to me. I also just found out the cosmetology school I was going to attend is closing down. So I’m trying to remain positive but it’s hard. I just don’t know what to do. My ultimate goal is to move back to LA but as time goes on, it’s looking like that will be harder to do than I expected. With all that said, I do post in instagram almost daily if you really want to know what I’m up to.
Anyway! I guess liquid to matte lipsticks are quite the trendy thing right now. I don’t really know. I’m not a trend follower. I simply wear what I like. Well I got a MAC gift card for christmas and I had no idea what to buy with it. So I took my trusted best friend with me to the mall. I left with a retro matte lipstick in the color tailored to tease and a kohl liner pencil in smolder.
I really like the retro matte lipstick formula. It’s not as drying as some other brands I’ve tried and it’s a gorgeous color. It’s this purple pinky color. I love it. It doesn’t take too long to dry but still gives you ample time to work with the product. I’d recommend it to to a friend for sure.
The eye kohl on the other hand, I wasn’t too fond of it. It’s an “intense black” color as they say on the website but it was just so damn smudgey. Now, I don’t usually buy mac so I wasn’t really sure what to expect form this product. I didn’t wear any eyeshadow the day I tried this for the first time. By the end of the night, I looked like a panda. Not cute. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or it’s supposed to be smudgey. Maybe I’ll try setting it with black eyeshadow or translucent powder or something. I don’t know. I’ll give it one more shot and let you guys know.
I also went to Sephora and got the Kat von D light shade blush in piaf and poe. I don’t usually use blush on myself but after I swatched it on my hand in the store, I just had to have it. First of all, the product itself felt like velvet on my skin and the color is gorgeous. In the past, when I use blush I feel like I look like a clown but the shade light blush, it’s such a subtle color. If you want a more intense color, you can build it up pretty well, too. It’s a lovely rosy pink. Gives me a lovely, flushed look without being too much.
I’ve also been stepping up my skin care game a lot lately but I think that deserves its own post.
