Recently, I have been trying really hard to take better care of my skin. With all of the crap I put my skin through, it’s a vital necessity.
First of all, I wash my face twice a day, whether I wear makeup or not. I wash my face with just face wash when I shower after my first work out of the day and then with my clairsonic mia 2 before I go to bed. When I wash my face after the gym, I use the Clinique liquid facial soap in the oily skin formula. I’m kind of in skin limbo. My skin is oily but when I use this particular product, my skin feels kind of tight and dry. I always feel the need to moisturize after I use it. I’ve been using Clarks Botanicals. What I like most about this product is that it can be used as a moisturizer or a moisturizing mask. I’ve used it as both and I really like the way it makes my skin feel. Despite that, I love the way it works. When I use the clairsonic, I use the refreshing gel cleanser that came with it. I’ve been doing this for a few weeks now and I’ve noticed a huge difference. My skin is way clear and so much softer. The clairsonic was a bit pricey. It was a gift from my mom but Sephora has them on their website for $150 and replacement brush heads for $30. I’m sure you can find some less expensive alternatives.
I also prime my face with smash box’s blemish control primer. It has 2% salicylic acid. This product has made a noticeable difference in my skin even before I started diligently washing my face. For me personally, this step is just a little extra insurance.
I also have a massive stash of skin care sample from sephora and ipsy. I like getting skincare samples because it gives me an opportunity to experiment with new products but I also feel like I don’t get to use them long enough to notice a majordifference. I’ve been keeping a list of products on my phone that I liked enough to invest in a full size.
When it comes to skin care, I feel like people forget that their entire body is covered in skin. I’ve had full blown allergic reactions to herbal essences shampoo and conditioner. My scalp would be on fire after I use it and the next day, it would get so itchy and literally peel off my head in huge chunks. I started using good old head and shoulders. It took a while of experimenting with shampoos and conditioners but head and shoulders is the one that doesn’t do that to my scalp.
As for the rest of my body, I’ve been alternating between using Lush cosmetics’ beautiful shower gel and pine and needles shower jelly. Both smell devine. Both leave my skin feeling so incredibly smooth. To me, it’s really just a difference in textures that really differentiates one from the other. I’ve been working out a lot, so before I go to the gym, I like to put my shower jelly in the fridge and take it out right when I get home from the gym before I hop in the shower. It’s wonderful.
So yeah. These are the things that work for me. I’m always looking for good suggestions for shampoos and conditioners that are gentle on my scalp. So if you have any send them my way.
