My sister and I checked something off my 2017 Halloween to-do list that I totally forgot to put on there int he first place. We went to Disneyland Resort for their Halloween time. It’s one of very few non-scary things I do during the Halloween season but it’s always so much fun. We usually go for the snacks and the pictures so this will definitely be a photo heavy post. If you want to see the decorations and the snacks we ate, just keep reading!
First things first, let’s talk about Disneyland since that was the first park we went to that day. All we really did was eat a non-halloweeny lunch, take photos with characters, go on Haunted Mansion Holiday, The Disneyland Railroad, and Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin, which will forever be one of my favorite and in my opinion most underrated Disneyland attraction.
We’ll get the non-halloweeny things out of the way first!
My sister took to me the Red Rose Tavern for my first time. Such a good lunch! I had the grilled chicken sandwich with apple slaw, fried jalapeños and I forget what kind of sauce was on it. Now that the live action Beauty and the Beast hype has died down and it’s not so crowded, I can definitely recommend it.
we went on the Disneyland Railroad so I can see the changes they’ve made. I hadn’t been on it since before the closed it down for months to make the changes and add the trestle over Star Wars land. I really like it. I was afraid it might have felt out of place but it really fit in. The native american scenes along the Rivers of America were updated. They look great!
We got off the railroad at the Toon Town station to take photos of my sister’s awesome Cruella De Vill disneyboun. While there, we decided to go on Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin. I am a big fan of the movie and the book on which the movie is based so I will always go on this ride if given the opportunity. There’s so much detail in it. It’s definitely my second favorite dark ride at Disneyland after Pinocchio’s Daring Journey.
Now on to the Halloweeny things!!! We went on Holiday Haunted Mansion after that. For those of you who don’t know, every year Jack Skellington wrecks the halls of the Haunted Mansion and decorates for Halloween. If you’ve never seen it before, it’s quite the sight to behold. If you’re like me and have gone every year since they started it over 10 years ago, it gets a little stale. It stays this way from mid september all the way through the beginning of January so if this is something you need to see, there’s plenty of time. One of the highlights of Haunted Mansion Holiday is always the amazing, and REAL gingerbread house on the dining table in the ballroom. It even SMELLS like real gingerbread as you ride by in your doombuggie. I will post a link to a video of that on my instagram because it’s different every year and I don’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone who wants to see it in person.
We got most of our Halloweening done in this park. This year was the first year California Adventure was done up for halloween. We really just wanted to enjoy the new halloween ambiance and the new halloween treats so we weren’t too worried about going on rides. On Buena Vista Street, we took pictures with the characters in their halloween costumes and got an amazingly delicious raspberry white chocolate bat wing sundae. My sister and I shared this. It was so decadent and delicious. I highly recommend it if your sweet tooth is acting up while you’re at the park. This area of the park was done up with old time-y decorations for the first time this year and the characters were all dressed up in their super cute, old time-y costumes. It was really fun to just eat our ice cream and wonder around for a bit.
Then we headed to Cars Land. Thanks to my cousin Ari, the movie Cars will always have a special place in my heart and Cars Land is no different. Now that they’ve started decorating for Halloween this year, it’s just increased exponentially in cuteness. We had a surprisingly delicious candy corn macaron. Again my sister and I shared because it was so rich, decadent, and sweet. Before we left to go home, we went on Mater’s Junkyard JamBOOree. It was so cute! It’s one of my favorites in Cars land even when it isn’t all decorated for halloween but the Halloween decorations, and the special Halloween songs were just too cute! I’m just going to let my photos of Halloween Time in Cars Land do the talking for me.
Thanks for reading! What’s your favorite time of the year to visit Disneyland? Let me know in the comments!
